چکیده

The proposed work is to analyze the power consumption of Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter under different combinatorial modules. Under the considered modules namely Parallel, serial and Distributed Arithmetic(DA) architectures, effects of variation of clock frequency, leakage capacitance, supply voltage are chosen to determine power consumption and junction temperature. Each module is simulated using Mentor Graphics ModelSim SE6.5 and the results are presented. Keywords—FPGAs; Distributed Arithmetic (DA); Power Analysis; Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter; Look-Up table (LUT); Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS).

Differential Power Analysis: A Serious Threat to FPGA Security

Differential Power Analysis (DPA) implies measuring the supply current of a cipher-circuit in an attempt to uncover part of a cipher key. Cryptographic security gets compromised if the current waveforms obtained correlate with those from a hypothetical power model of the circuit. As FPGAs are becoming integral parts of embedded systems and increasingly popular for cryptographic applications and...

Design of High- speed FIR filter Based on Booth Radix-8 Multiplier Implemented on FPGA

Finite Impulse Response (FIR) digital filters have potential for high-speed and low-power realization through parallel processing on FPGA. In this paper, an efficient implementation of FIR filters, which uses a Booth Radix-8 multiplier, is suggested. For implementation of the said FIR filter MATLAB FDATool is employed to determine various filter coefficients. The 8 order FIR filters have been d...

DSPs/FPGAs Comparative Study for Power Consumption, Noise Cancellation, and Real Time High Speed Applications

Adaptive noise data filtering in real-time requires dedicated hardware to meet demanding time requirements. Both DSP processors and FPGAs were studied with respect to their performance in power consumption, hardware architecture, and speed for real time applications. For testing purposes, real time adaptive noise filters have been implemented and simulated on two different platforms, Motorola D...

Transposed Form FIR Filters

This application note describes a high-speed, reconfigurable, full-precision Transposed Form FIR filter design implemented in the VirtexTM and Virtex-II series and SpartanTM-II family of FPGAs. The VHDL reference design provided with this application note is easily modified to change filter parameters including coefficients and the number of taps. By illustrating a design methodology for digita...

Fast Adaptive Image Processing in FPGAs Using Stack Filters

Stack filters are a class of non-linear, digital filters whose behaviour is defined by Positive Boolean Functions rather than the multiply-accumulate, arithmetic operators that are widely used in conventional digital filters. The implementation of stack filters that can be adapted in real-time is feasible using dynamically reconfigurable FPGAs. This paper reports on efforts to map adaptive stac...
